Bono And U2 Win Their Trousers Back In Court
When he hasn't been saving the world or singing songs with basic rhyming pentameters, Bono has been involved in a bitter court case with an old stylist who apparently stole clothes from him.
And the good news is that Bono and U2 have won their court case. They can have their trousers back!
The former U2 stylist, Lola Cashman, had alleged that Bono had given her a number of items of band memorabilia as gifts in 1987, when the band were on the Joshua Tree tour. However, the band contested that they would never give such iconic items as Bono's cowboy hat and black trousers.
Judge Matthew Deery preferred Bono's account of events: roughly that whatever he wears immediately becomes iconic and he couldn't possibly give them away to anyone - to Cashman's account: roughly that Bono once spent an evening running around in his underwear giving his clothes away to people.
Also, the judge noted that no mention of this - no doubt highly memorable - event was made in her unauthorised book Inside The Zoo with U2.
Cashman has seven days to return the items to the band, and costs will be decided on July 12th.
